My First Question is do we want to run a 2011 TB Race? The Poll that I'm gonna put up will be the rules for it if we say yes. Option ALeave it like this years. Option BPoints - Points for pictures taken
- Points for Each Cache
- Points for Each Different Cacher moving the bug
Option CWith the new taken to logs it makes it easier to dip bugs but harder to track... Miles Only - Only the First Cache counts for miles

I haven't made my Official Vote yet, but I guess I'm leaning toward B. I like A (the way it was run in 2010) but I can understand that the Visited Cache option available now can make it a LOT harder to track the actual miles a bug has moved.
Option C I do not like. Miles only in the first move? The race would be over in a month. That's no fun. Option D is no good either, for if there's race then there is no fun at all in watching them progress.
You have done all the tracking of the 2010 race Bryan, and I highly commend you for the efforts. That said, I think a Point system of any sorts would actually complicate things along the way. That said, may I suggest Miles Only again, and just go ahead and include all of the Visited Logs that also put miles on the TB's? I mean... look at our own Cache Mobile TB's and the miles we put on those on our own. (I'm sure you have me beat, but who cares? It's my TB and you have yours... so...)
Anyhow, yes we will have to rely on the Honor System here and hope that the TB's actually have Visited the caches logged prior to actually being Dropped in a cache, but I think we're dealing with Honest Game players and maybe we should just include all of the Visited Miles in with the race. So in that sense, I rather like option A.
As I said... I've not made my Official Vote yet. We have some time to talk about this.

just a quick bump, also, need to look for a venue for the end of last years race... I'm planning on heading down to Watseka and picking up prizes for last years race in a couple of weeks. If we want to do camping side, maybe one of our camping friends can make the phone call? I won't be camping as I'm not even sure what shift I'll be working come July. If we're not camping I'll contact either Perry Farms for use of the pavilion or I'll contact the state Park for the use of their rental pavilion, or I'll see about getting there early enough in the day to get one of the free pavilion's (most prominent choice)

The Rule Changes I'm leaning towards (very much open for debate) 1 - Only One Bug per entry
What I had meant above with option C, was that if a person picks up a bug the only miles that would count would be their first move, that way their not picking up and dropping constantly. but that option isn't really an issue anymore...
Other than the above rule change, going to run like this years race.

I Voted for A, but it registered as a B vote. Why??? Anyhow, I like A if you're willing to do all that tracking again. Again, I have to commend you for all that you do on the race. I know what kind of Time it takes to run a site and forum, and as such... I can Imagine what it takes to track all of the TB's and post the results. To run the race again... Nice. You are a better man than I am on that one. Rule Change: You mean only 1) Entry per cacher? On that, there is no debate.. I agree! If we get something like 15 Entries again and I own 10 of them... that would be a sever Disadvantage to the rest of the folks. Not Fair, and it puts you through that much more work to track all of the progress. End 2010 Race Venue: I am with you on the Free Pavilion at the State Park. Camping would be awesome, but at this point in time I also cannot guarantee the commitment. I Want to camp.... but work is Again in the way. (on aside, I darn near quit this week on account of nobody willing to cover me this Saturday so that I can see my daughter's School Choir Competition this year. In this economy, I Know that's foolish thinking but I was pushed that far. Luckily, the boss covered me in the last half hour on Friday.) End 2010 will also serve as Start 2011, correct? And one of us will make a Geo Event of it? Or do you have 2) separate Events in mind? Either way, I'll be looking forward to it!

Don't worry, you could always come work with me, we hire something like 100 new people a month, for all five shifts. I'll get the coords set while on the way to work tonight so that I can start the event preparations. End 2010 will also serve as Start 2011, correct? And one of us will make a Geo Event of it? I have narrowed possible starting locations to 2 caches. I will discuss this with Leanne over the next couple of weeks, if there's any other suggestions let me know.

OK, this is where we travel off to the cache to set the bugs free and let the Race Begin, right? Folks (who might not know or remember) Bryan and I, with our clans, took last year's TB's up to Niles Michigan to start off the race. That was a lot of fun, but the day ran Over Schedule by Several HOURS. So.. having said that, Thank You Bryan for at least keeping this in Illinois for 2011. We'll keep in touch behind the scenes for the 2011 race folks. Please Mark Sat. 7-9-11 on the Calender and get ready to join us for the end of the 2010 Race, and the Event Kickoff for the 2011 TB Race! ;D It appears we're gonna go for a Free Pavilion at the Kankakee River State Park. But... I DO have a PM I have to check. (Hope this isn't gonna be Bryan changing his mind.... )

OK, Let's Lock In on 7-9-11. How's about 2:00 PM sound as a start time? I can try for an earlier time if possible/necessary, but for now I'm setting that as a Safe time so I can be OFF and AWAY from work.

I just e-mailed JPDrethers the CO of Whiskey Bug Hotel (the final choice for starting)
e-mail read:
A Local caching group in Kankakee, IL is preparing to have it's second annual TB Race, last year we started at BIG Orange Travel Bug Convention Center, in Niles Michigan. This year we are planning on starting at the Whiskey Bug Hotel, in Pana, IL. The event is planned for July 9th (still pending GC Approval) and the bugs will arrive on Friday July 15th, so long as your willing to help our travel bugs start their race.
Thanks Much blaird83

Very Nice. Do let us know what the CO has to reply with. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the Listing get Published at the GC Site.
I have to add this as well. There really is something cool to be said about your choice of words here. "Second Annual", really has a nice ring to it, does it not? That said, I'm looking forward to keeping the Annual Event going as long as we can. I was also thinking about how we made Last year's event combine with a CITO. I guess we need to go back to Private for that one, huh? It's not Necessary, but it was a neat touch that we pulled off last year, and now we have Two big Trucks that we own to haul the trash away. As I said, just a thought. We can talk about here or in Private, I'm OK either way.

I'll bring them down there, for the start of the race, and then if you could either give them to friends down that way to speed them along, or drop them at another event either way it would be very helpful. It will be nice to be back in Pana on a happier beat than last Christmas when we were down there for a funeral. the bugs are racing for the most miles, starting at an event in Kankakee, IL and will run from 7/9/11 to 7/1/12. To give the bugs a fair chance we start them all in the same spot and then give them to a third party to move around.

Beef O'Brady's, and reserve the party room) from 4-6 and hopefully wizalou will be at the event so I can drop dylan off to him then, otherwise I'll run over to that side of down to drop him off before heading to work Saturday night, gotta be there by 7 with the 30-45 minute drive, I won't get my cache on that night, but thats ok.

Doing Beef -O-Bradys would shoot the Pot Luck at the state park in the foot, wouldn't it?
If it were up to me, I'd rather try the Pot Luck at the State Park, and for go the CITO event. IF we did a CITO again, I wouldn't go all the way back to Strasma Grove and back.
No... I think I rather like/prefer what you had in mind for this year in the first place. If we keep a CITO involved, we could always do one along the Trails nearby the State Park and keep everything Local in the sme place, ya know? Just my thoughts again.

let me know, as I'm looking at renting a pavilion just in case so that we don't have the same snafu that we had last year, having to change locations mid events.

Let's play it safe... with you renting the Pavilion. If I can Camp, an added bonus, if not... we have our place for the Event. If you want me to cover 1/2 the cost, PM or call me with that amount. I agree, we don't need that snafu happening again. Wow, did we ever get lucky on that one, huh? But... why press our luck?
