Announcement~ only to keep this handy for me as I get the truck back into shape. Sticky Status Applied for the same reason.
This is a list of things I've found that need to be fixed on my truck to get it back into a better condition. I'll use this as an on line (thus Never Lost) things of Chores for me to get done.
Exhaust Leak:The entire system is pretty shot, and the worst of it came when a donut Gasket at the Manifold has completely been blown out. You wanna talk about LOUD... Man this is it!!!
DONE! Spent more than I wanted to or expected to, but the ENTIRE Exhaust (from the Manifolds Back) is ALL NEW!!! 100% new and all Custom Welded too. Nice and Quiet now. ;D For the Local folks here, I can give y'all a good reference.
Blower Motor: (for the heater & A/C system) This has been noisy and iffy ever since I bought the truck, and it's on it's way out completely. Of the 1 2 3 & 4 Fan speeds available, only 3 & 4 work. So, the motor itself is bad, and I also suspect the resistor pack is about gone as well. Should be a relatively easy and cheaper repair.
A/C itself: Fail! Replaced the Compressor a year or so ago, and it still didn't work. (Looks like I'm gonna have to farm this job out too.)
Trans Shift Linkage:This doesn't work right, and it's hard as heck to "feel" what gear I'm in. The Indicator on the dash is also broke, but I normally don't need that anyhow. If the "feel" is good.
DONE! Fixed that last year with a rather simple adjustment to the Linkage under the hood at the firewall. ;D
Headlight Aim: Found a broken Adjuster that needs to be reset or replaced. S/B an easy fix.
Wipers: dang things are shot! Simple replace.
Gas Leak: Fix this, and the Mileage should be better, huh? I found the source of the leak in a Return Line and by the looks of it I can do another rigging repair to stop the leak.
4-18-11 Amendment:
Noticed lately that the 2 tone horn is only sounding the Hi note. Lo note horn needs replaced. (the higher pitched "beep" simply will not do for me.)
Noticeably forgot to mention the Rust setting in at the typical fender wells and cab corner areas. Some on the lower door edges as well. Again... this is Un Acceptable. I'm not gonna b able to re weld in new panels or anything like that, but some Bondo/Fiberglass rebuilding is Definitely in order here. As the weather warms, this task will be tackled as well.
Paint: Flaking off like no one's business. This is tiresome for me. This MUST be dealt with somehow. I have Many Pending ideas in mind as to how to deal with this. Will it look Showroom New? Likely not. But Something is going to eventually happen with the paint and it (I hope...) will look a bit better than what's going on with it right now. Colors of Blue, Silver and Gray are coming to mind at the moment, but this can change at Any time.
Capper: Folks, this is going on as a Years Old debate in my mind as to what I want with this. So much so, that's even been brought up (by me...) as to whether I should have a Truck or a Van.
Options are... (leaving the Van Option out at this point.) :
Keep as is. Full Truck with Capper.
Open Truck without capper. Tool Boxes can be installed for some additional Inside Storage, but then the Bed size will be reduced some.
Custom Build a new capper that is larger than the one installed right now. Likely, this would be a Wooden Constructed project. Within this Custom Capper the ideas of Tool Boxes could be incorporated within.
Oh... the Ideas in mind.
End 4-18-11 brain Storming.
