the way a tb race works is: All the bugs are entered at an event, (in groups that are abroad they are mailed to the host or are dropped at the event in person) then one person will collect all the bugs from the event and take them to a pre-designated starting cache, usually a large tb hotel that see's alot of cachers, from there the rules vary. Option A: is a straight race, where you get one point for every mile that the bug moves, while the organizer or a tracker will maintain a monthly update on positions of the bugs. www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=4d418b7c-7d1d-4209-b771-28c1e2fe05f8 was a good starting point for last year's GONIL race. Option B: points for miles, as well as for a theme (one race i've seen is for photo's of the bug at interesting places) TBT Dae-Myon was the bug that i saw this on. Option C: Is a miles race, but only the first hop per cacher is counted the options can go together or different concepts can be added for more point prospects. normally a race lasts for about a year and then an event is held at the end of the race for prizes

This looks like a neat idea. Site or Area should be about the same, cause I'm gonna work more on making this more of a Local Kankakee County Geocaching place as opposed to the National Camping place that never really took off. Consider this a work in progress, and let's work together on this one.
As for that Chat Room thing, I just need to find that again here at the Forums and reinstate it. With a little Luck, I'll have that ready to go again before the night is through.

I have the Chat running again....
But it looks like I have to use IE (Internet Explorer) to use it.
Firefox Browser is giving me Troubles in making the chat room work here. Still checking on this....

I see that a new Poll has been started as well.
I Voted for the July 3rd date, cause that should be a Likely day Off for me. (I sure hope, at least!)
But... whatever the Date will be, I'm gonna make an Honest Effort to attend no matter what. Any Saturday afternoon should work for me as well. Any time after 1:00 PM, I should be free and clear from Work! ;D

that was why i picked Saturdays figured an afternoon or evening event would work out, and the event will draw attention to the site, as will the race what i'm looking at is a M&G dinner (say 5:30ish) at a local restaurant, i'll talk to the owner (Mark Ray) when i'm at drill this weekend and let him know that the date is still pending but was looking at hosting the event at his restaurant. The Restaurant is Savannah's Southern Bistro on West 17

Closing the Poll around May 1st sounds good. Gives you the time to get the event listed & Published at Geocaching.com too. Let me know what I need to get doing myself if you want me to Co Host this event with you. PM, Email or call on phone. Just let me know, OK?
Meanwhile, I'm gonna have to check into the Restaurant you have in mind. It doesn't look familiar to me. The M&G dinner sounds good though. We're still gonna do the daytime event at the Pavilion though, right? At Beckman Park?

the restruant would be a good place to host the start for the tb race, and then a second event would be held at beckman park for the CITO event.
I talked to the owner today, and have the restruant lined up for the race, i told him that the date may change, but as of right now, i told him that the event will most likly be July 3rd (based off of curent votes) his only request was that we remind him a few days in advance of the event, and if possible give him a count of the number of people attending.
The coords are: N 41 07.176 W 087 53.538
infact, if we wanna close the polls soner than the 1st, i can publish the event as i have the link ready to go, as soon as we're ready to post it

This looks good, but I'm still confused (or lost here... )
Use the PM Feature here Bryan, and fill me in from the top, OK?
I guess I got lost when you mentioned the Second CITO Event. I thought the TB race was gonna start and stop at the Single CITO Event.
Let's Talk before you/we Close the Poll. I understand that the Event needs to be listed in advance at the site. And while we're at it, let's see if we can get some more Cachers here at the forums.
Thanks... CC

For now, I'm gonna take this one out of Announcement Status. When we get it all figured out and ready to go, one off us can start a New Topic that I'll set as an Announcement. This Topic will be Stickyed for a while to keep it at the top of this Board. Also, it's still open to post a reply in.

i was thinkin (i know thats scary) but... have the cito event from 4:30-6 (both pm) (if they ever return my phone call) then have the dinner and race start at 6:30 at a second event (it also turns it into 2 log books)

First event is the CITO. Then you want to create another Event for the meet and greet Supper as well? That looks like a good idea.
Two log books. You mean this would result in two Found It Logs at the Geocache Site? I guess that Would be the case here, huh? Attend Both events and get 2 Found it Smileys if you attend Both Events. I'm liking the way you're thinking here.

Hello Kankakee campers... ah geocachers:) Baird83 asked me to stop by and see if I can help with your CITO and other event plans. If you're interested in my help it would be my pleasure. It looks like you're well underway having come up with a date and your locations. I also noticed you were thinking of making your boards more about geocaching, if you'd like to add a space within gogeocaching.com I'd love to have the opportunity to discuss that too. You've got forums and I saw mention of chat rooms so maybe you don't need anything but sometimes there are gains by working together. Kankakee Campers and Cachers or what have you. Let me know what I can do for you.
