Ok so in laymans terms geo-cashing is high tech treasure hunting...
So person "X" takes an item (picture, poker chip.. something) and places inside a container of some sort, then hides/burries it out in the bush (or city, or someplace) {reminds of a joke about a doctor.. LMAO} then using the gps co-ordinates (guess it helps to have a gps that gives those) X posts the info on the web for others to find.
Ok I have heard of this... even sort of done this before... only back then we didn't have gps .. In public school, every year the graduating class would go out into the woods behind the school and find the capsule left by the previous years grad class ... inside might be anything from a grad class picture to test questions, to lock keys.. Every year the "new" class would add a couple pictures and a few other items then reseal the box and hide it someplace else in the wood. The would use land marks (old woodpeckers nest, or something) along with number of pace's to know where the box was and give this info on the map the next years class would use to find it...

In a nutshell Craig, Yes. That's Geocaching! But really, it can get a lot more involved that you might at first think. Consider me, my history at forums, and my recent conversion of format at my own place here. I first learned of Geocaching oh... (4 Years ago? Jeeze!) at PUX, a Camping Forum. At the time, man I had no idea what all them folks were talkin' about, ya know? Then I moved on to the Portal and caching wasn't talked about as much over there. You know about most of the rest of my History where I set off on my own (and I don't want to discuss it in Public...) and here I am today, Very Actively pursuing the Geocaching! I bought my fist GPSr in February of '08 and got off to a bit of a slow start as I was "Catching on to Caching!" Well, since about October or so of '09, I've made a whole lot of cache Finds and even stepped up to the level of being a Cache Hider. In the later months I've Found almost 30 caches in a single month. Others have (and still are) out caching me, but that's not the point. For me and my family, we are as active at caching as we can be. With my Work Schedule, we can cache a LOT more than we can Camp. I could go on and on, but let me close up here with a couple of Pic Links from my Webshots Gallery regarding Geocaching. The first link is from the Event I attended on 12-27-09. That was Fun as all get out! The next link is various Pics taken while on cache runs and also some containers that I have found, made for myself, Restored and so on. Also includes some pics taken along the caching trails. Event Cache, 12-27-09Pics taken on Cache Runs Check out the Pics, and I also encourage you to check more into Geocaching. Get a GPS'r, sign up as a member at the geocache site and have some fun and join us for some Geocaching! Geocaching.com's HOME PAGE I know you can't join us Live and in person, but you're sure Welcome to join us Virtually, right here in these Forums. We'd love to have the Company!

But I'm not a Member of Facebook, so I have no Log In ID info to see the Pics. Nor do I desire another Log In ID. (sorry...) Personally, I recommend Hosting Pics at a Free place such as Webshots. I mean, if I (the total Software Idiot) can figure out Webshots, than I expect that Anyone can! ;D

Here we go again... about the Planes! ;D ~ Yes, I remember that talk rather well. Something about Nebraska, huh? What IS it with Nebraska anyhow? Interesting Coincidence about that state. As you know, I had a business trip to Nebraska back in February. Well, at Geocaching.com, I have the task to watch over Bryan's caches as he goes away on a business trip himself. Where to? Nebraska! <humming the song, "It's a Small World After All...." >
Well, I'm caching back towards Essex and Gardner on Sunday. You gonna be here, Mr. Flyin' Man? BTW, around here we call it K 3. 3K kinda has that racist tone to it if you get my drift. Never a good thing.... I'm just sayin', ya know? But give me a Call on the phone if you think you'll be here for Sunday Geocaching!

Boy one of these days (ok more like years), I'll plan a week trip of camping into your State, and guess what I'm going to do ..... I'll find you and you'll know it ... Not sure what I'll leave as a present, but you'll know it was me ... NO won't be a gift from the dog either .. it will be something that only the two of us would get ... (so either something from an airline of a recipie for chilli.. lmao) . Well I couldn't remember if it was K3 or the way I did it .. at least I didn't write each k separately ... Until then, we'll just have to do the forum-cashing thing ... you know this could be almost a monthly sweepstakes thing down the road a bit. (makes a note to apply for international patent on the term "forum-cashing")

Well if your gonna get a Patent on it, at least spell Caching properly. LOL! ;D And it you ever get on down here to Camp... you're gonna have to Drive! How else are you gonna bring along the Pup? And to heck with the present/gift. If you ever get on down here, I'd be happy with just a good personal Hand Shake. (let alone that Week of Camping together...)
