OK, I've been put to a task here by our newest Member of the Forums, oneangel. (Debbie, BTW.) She has asked me to put this thought out here in the open for ALL to reply, and quite frankly I agree 100%, so here goes.
Veteran Cache Owners! Have you ever considered placing caches out there that are really EASY to get to? Considering some folks just can't walk to far or take on some of the more difficult Terrains anymore?
Debbie has really opened my eyes with this request, and has made me think about this a bit more than I have in the past. Now I know that Bryan and I have a few Handicapped Caches out there, but we also seem to focus a Lot about making them harder for folks to find. There IS a certain amount of joy in reading the DNF logs from other Experienced cachers that get stumped on our more difficult hides, and Lord only knows that I've enjoyed some of my own recent DNF logs. ;D Sorry, but I can't lie about that.
As I said, I have a few out there that are not hard to get to, and I have at least one Park Lot cache that is 100 Wheelchair Accessible. The Mrs. also has one in mind that will be an LPC too. (Lamp Post Cache~ easily Wheel Chair access.)
With a newer Focus on this manner, we'll be planning some more Easier Caches to get listed on the GC Site. I'll Edit this particular post with what we have out there as the progress continues.
Thanks Folks! This topic will also be a Sticky and stay on Top of this Board. Edits will follow as soon as I get our list together.
OK, to start of a few on 8-21-10, 15:29 Update: Some of mine.
Beacon of Light ~ GC23G1D This is my sole LPC as of now, a Park Lot Cache under a Lamp Post's bottom skirt. Truely a Wheel Chair cache.
The rest of these can't really be called Wheel Chair accessible, but the Walk to them is Very short and easy. Possible wheel chair access will be noted with each following cache.
Let's Play ~ GC29EQ0 This one is in a gravel park lot and could be Wheel Chair access. The stoop down for the hunt? I don't know. For sure a minor hike and relatively easy search, but you do need to be on the ground for it.
The Number 3 ~ GC24Y33 This one is along a Bike Path close to the park lot here in the park. Wheel Chair is probably Out on this one as it is higher up on (well... it's hiding spot!) But the walk to is is really short and easy.
Marcotte Park, Bourbonnais ~ GC2462J This one is in a small park near my home and if not wet after a rain it could be Wheel Chair accessible as well. Otherwise, it's a very short walk away from the provided sidewalk towards GZ.
OK, one my wife just put out not too long ago.
Power House ~ GC2D19M This one is close to the side of a road and the hike would be short and easy. Wheel Chair? I think it could be done here as well.
That's all I have for now. When I think of more, there will further updates right here.
How could I forget? I'm ashamed of myself. 8-21-10, 15:39 Update:
Boars Nest TB Hotel ~ GC250D7 How could I forget Bryan's TB Hotel, where he clearly lists as Wheel Chair Access with proper notice? Well, it didn't take me long to realize my temporary error.
