I learned this method back in the days when I worked at the Ford Dealership. This is a good and Easy way to flush out the Transmission Fluid for an Automatic Transmission in the TV.
I posted up Pics and Captions in my Webshots Gallery to show y'all how it's done.
Here's the Link for y'all. Automatic Trans Fluid Flush Job.
I DO have to add that the pics were taken in a Mock Up display. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that I actually got the job done on my truck. (after the cooler lines broke free at the radiator). Regretfully, I didn't have the Camera on hand for the actual job.
But... This really is the best way to change out the ATF in your truck. It's fairly Quick and easy to do, and you'll get at least 95% of the old fluid flushed out and replaced with nice and new Clean ATF.
Filter worries? Don't bother.
Most trans filters do NOT need to be replaced. Many are not much more than a simple screen that will never really clog up. Even the finer Felt Filters shouldn't need to be replaced, cause the fluid itself doesn't pick up any 'dirt' that will clog up the filter.
To put it this way, folks.... If you Need to replace the filter in your Automatic Transmission, then that means the Bands and Clutch Packs are coming apart on the inside of the trans. And if that happens, the Fluid Flush will NOT be the only Service that the transmission will need.
If you have that much damage going on, you'll have to have the trans rebuilt by a Professional Shop. The Fluid Flush alone will NOT correct the damage that has been done if the filter is actually clogged up and blocked.
