Here's a Topic/Poll to help kick off the TV Board. When it comes to the Trucks, it doesn't matter what the cab/bed configuration is, just whether it is a Full Size, Mid, or Compact. Of course, Details in a post here could help some folks to decide what TV would be best for the camper they have in mind to buy.

I selected Full Sized Truck.
It's a Regular Cab, full 8 foot box truck that seats the 3 of us nicely in the cab while offering the Most amount of bed space to haul around all the (too much, I'm sure) crap we also take to camp. But... it also affords us a ton of room to haul our firewood.
We used to have an S-10 Compact Stick Shift truck, but that really didn't work too well at all. Too small, and too under powered. ...
I have a Capper on the back too, but that may be another Poll about trucks sometime.

I tow my Aliner with a little 2.4l 4 cyl. Chevy Cobalt SS. It does a pretty good job towing my 1,700lb LXE but I'm pretty much maxed out. I just returned from a 2,600 mile trip to Big Bend NP and Guadalupe Mtn. NP (highest mountain in TX) towing at 70mph on I-10. This is a lot faster than I usually tow, but I had a lot of miles to cover and only one week to do it in. It still returned a respectable 21 mpg trip average, which is less than the 23-24mpg I usually get towing 60-65 mph. It easily pulled my camper up the 15% grade to the Chisos Basin, and more importantly, brought it down safely with room to spare. I've safely negotiated the Ouachita mountains and the Smokies several times with my Aliner in tow. Here's a pic of my DW and rig overnighting at the Meriwether Lewis CG on the Natchez trace.

I slected OTHER... The H3 is a mid size SUV Ya know, Mid sized SUV must have escaped my mind at the time I started this topic. By today's standards an Explorer is maybe a mid sized SUV. The Expedition being a full size and the Escape being the compact. Seem about right? (at least in the Ford lineup?) Originally the Explorer was based on the compact truck frame, the Ranger. I had the Escape in mind for the compact, but neglected to make the association of the Explorer then being labeled as the midsize. Hmm. Live and learn, huh? FWIW, Sorry about that.

I see. I didn't include a Mini Van in this poll either. Well, if you get the Jeep, consider that a Compact SUV.

We tow with a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab Hemi . Right now we are pulling a 2007 Fleetwood graphite. But think we are fixing to go to a full size camper. Been checking out the layton joeys.
