Simple Poll/Question. (and another something to start off some chit chat here...)
I had a capper on the S-10, and ended up removing it when I used the truck as a daily driver in the winter. Small truck was a Lot easier to drive around without the capper on the back. (easier to see Behind!)
The much larger capper on the full sized truck though... Hmmm. Provides a good amount of sheltered storage, but can also at times prove to be difficult to see behind the truck while driving. Larger Mirrors are of great help, but there are times when it can be difficult.

I voted "Undecided". Referring to the other Poll, I think I might prefer a Full Sized Van as a camper TV. (not sure yet...) If it were just the Truck as a hauler/ Winter Daily Driver, I'm sure I'd rather get rid of the capper on the bed.
Again, just something to get some Conversation going on here.

I have a Tonneau cover on the truck. I need something and that option was the cheapest. I'm still toying with the idea of getting a cap, but I do like the ability of simply removing or rolling up the cover to load a yard of dirt or what ever. The cover is also much easier to remove then a cap would be. Although the dog would probably like the cap as then he could ride or at least stay in the back when were camping and need to run to a store for food or just kill time on those rainy days. Of course he would have his travel bed and water.

My trucks came with the caps, so that's what I've had. As said earlier, I removed the cap from the S-10 when I wanted to. Small truck, and light weight Aluminum cap made the job pretty easy. I've taken that cap off and on Several times throughout my term of having owned it. The Full Sized truck with the heavier Fiberglas cap though.... Now we're talkin about an Effort to take that off. I haven't even bothered to try that yet. Just looks to be too much work involved, and I'm not so sure I can actually do it myself. What I do like about the cappers though is the Dry Storage. The Tonneau covers seem nice and easy to use and remove, but they limit the Dry Space in the bed. (especially the Hard Covers that hinge up! The soft roll up covers are the better idea IMHO.) The soft covers are at least easy to get completely out of the way when you need the open space.
I bet I could build up some hard walls for the sides of the truck (have done it before...) and add a soft tonneau cover to serve as the roof when needed. Only problem with that is figuring out how to build the top half of the back door for the enclosure. That's something I never quite finished when I built my own capper for the Ranger I had years ago. If I can find the old Pics (film!) I should post what I had built for the Ranger. I had a complete cap made out of wood put together. It really didn't turn out to bad either. Except for the lack of the top door...

i'm not a fan of the cap. it takes away from any extra space that you might need in the bed of the truck, while it might keep everything dry your giving up space for hauling larger items

Check out the Topic "Another Truck" in this board, Bryan. If I get it, the minor Upgrade of a truck doesn't have a capper on it. And I won't add one either. One thing I can't haul with my current truck with the cap is my Motorbikes. They don't fit! Another problem I have with a capper on the truck. The 8 foot bed I have now is so full of crap that I couldn't load stuff in there if I wanted to. Maybe having the other truck without the capper would make me keep that 6 1/2 foot bed Open to haul things like my motorbikes when I want to, huh? Duh!
Don't know what's gonna happen yet with that one. The Mrs. and I are still in discussions. You know how it is.

I haul to much big stuff to make one worthwhile.
