Folks, Pay Attention to your truck's Trailer Wiring connector every six months or so! If you find yourself Not Towing for a prolonged time (as I have...) you may well find a bunch of Corrosion has built up in the un used wiring connector between the Truck and the Trailer. Not Good! Dielectric Grease is your best friend in this situation. Not only does this stuff keep things working nicely while in steady use, but it will also Prevent some problems while not in use.

OK, here's a pic of the BAD scenario. Trailer not used for a while, and the Mess that can and will result. Actually, this is a Pic of after I fetched that Dielectric Grease from the glove box of the truck and spent a time working on this. Prior to that, the Green crap was a dusty and hard mass that got in the way of the connection(s) being able to function. (I mean... It had FILLED 2 of the 3 holes on the trucks end!) Sorry, I did not think to get a Pic of the Bad, but I can see about remembering to get a Pic of the Dielectric Grease being used here in the next couple of days. My lights are now Working, but as you can see, the situation still has room for Improvement! The next pic will show what this looks like when all cleaned up, and then another pic of Proper Preventative Maintenance procedure that would have prevented this in the fist first place. Should have seen my 7 pin plug earlier this year...went to move the trailer one day and noticed the receptacle on the truck was green (again) on two pins... while attempting to cleaning the pins I had one almost brake off... So the morning of our trip back in May I was changing the receptacle on the truck... Guess what wire had the broken pin ? the blue wire... Which for those who do not know, the blue wire is the signal/power feed wire for the electric brakes used on trailers... And with a 3200 lb plus dry weight and a loaded weight of about 3500 lbs I want those trailer brakes working... So yes ... check those plugs ....
