The other day my truck (for those who haven't met yet I love my truck (almost more than my wife) and am very proud of it as I've been slowly rebuilding it over the last seven months) decided that it didn't want to start any more so I went out and started playing around under the hood, and as Scott can testify I'm not the most knowledgeable person with mechanical things... Well I discovered that one of the battery cables was broken (at the metal adapter thingy) so Leanne in all of her wisdom says hey honey you can fix that I'll just go the Auto Zone and get the part... 3 hours later I'm under the hood trying to get the blasted thing put back together when an airplane flies over head, and loses a piece of ice that it had falling through the air until it struck the hood of the truck directly over the top of where my head was at... 4 hours later, and several swear words later, I finally have the part on and wired properly and the truck starts just fine, the first time. I turn it off wait a few minutes and once again it doesn't want to start, so I call a mechanic friend of mine to see if he can help me out 5 minutes after he show's up the truck starts back up and no problems since. and all he did was bang on the cylinoid (spelling mistake) with my screwdriver.

Wow. Where to start.... First, this wasn't a Mechanical thing. It was Electrical. Oh... so much Fun, yes? LOL! Second. This is typical. Get a guy there that may know what the problem is.... and the problem will most often NOT Happen when the guy is there. Happens all the time! Trust me, as I spent 10 some years in the field. Third. You called the wrong guy in the first place. I don't mean this to condemn your other friend, but sir.. you forgot. I was a Ford Tech! Them Solenoids are notorious for causing the No Start issue that you described. As to why it took you 3 - 4 Hours to replace that loop connector, I can't explain. (took me a half hour to replace my failed Chevy's loop....) Forth. Solenoid. That's how you spell that thing that Ford has up on the fender-well. Incidentally, a Very Convenient location compared to Chevy's mounting this right on the Starter. (as is true on my truck. ~ Also... the wire that was broken on my truck....) Coincidence? Interesting. Now I'm wondering. Fifth. If this happens again, you may be able to start the truck by Jumping those two larger Solenoid Terminals with such said screwdriver. Friend of yours likely didn't Bang the thing, I think he Jumped it. Six. That is going out. Need to replace it. Maybe. Maybe it's good to go now for a while. Since you found the bad loop connector (and buddy Jumped it once....) it may never act up again. Who knows? (well... I can, if this case is presented to me. ) Seven. Should have had you there to help with my Chevy. What a time I had finding that issue. Pretty much a similar problem, but Different as Chevy is Chevy and Ford is Ford. Furthermore, I had No Power to Anything. (Starter was not the only dead component. Whole truck was lost.) Eight. (and I'll close with this....) I'm like you. I Love my Car (the Ford Taurus) more than most people. Wife included. So I can appreciate how you love the truck. Now as to my Truck, I'm in a Love Hate relationship with that thing. After all... it's a stinkin' Chevy.
I Close with this. Glad you got it figured out.
