being immune sure is nice, but my wife on the other hand is highly allergic (she can catch it if she's within 10 feet of it) she's found a product at K-Mart and Wal Mart that she has fallen in love with its called Ivy Block, its a lotion that repels the toxins of said and other poisonous plants.

We have some stuff in the first aid kit in the trailer.. I can't remember its name, but I ll look while were camping and post it when we get back...
This stuff is in a small tube (like pollysporin), think the tube is green with blue lettering... the stuff works great on poison ivy, poison oak and other rashes ...

Sorry folks, I couldn't resist. I had to change the Topic Title to:
A) correct the spelling of Protection, and
B) define the fact that this was Protection against Plants. While I am a Constitutional believer in the Second Amendment's rights afforded to us (the right to bear arms) I also remember how topics about Political issues like Guns can go overboard at Camping Forums. Please Remember that there IS a 3G Board set up here for those types of Topics, and I ask that my Staff remember this as well. I do NOT have ANY problems with this Topic, nor any posts so far. No apologies necessary, we're all good here. This is just a Reminder to the Staff to keep an eye out for subjects like this that COULD be misunderstood. [/color]

As for this here Topic right now, I agree with Dan and Bryan. Poison Ivy is NO Joke! MY daughter just got a heck of a bought with that last month. Ugly Deal Indeed! For me, it's bee stings. I could maybe Die without the right stuff in my kit. (dang near did back in 1994 or so???)
Myself, (and I'll have to Check on this now....) I had some Good stuff for Bites and Stings. Now I'll need to make sure I have the right stuff for the Poison Ivy/Oak and whatever else is out there in regards to the Plants.
Thank You Dan. I WILL be paying attention to this Topic. This is Important Stuff to know. Preferably, Before you find out you need to do so while at Camp, or on a caching run!

all of what i have tried and how it worked for me:
oatmeal bath: didnt work goldbond powder(poison ivy/ect. relief kind): only woeked on my feet idky only there. Ivy-Dry scrub: worst of the lot, an tiny $8 1oz tube that dose nothing. Ivy-Dry spray: works to a degree- burns abit but it will speed up the process and get the poison/ect out quick. skin will dry too but you can remoisturize. Ivy-Dry super spray: works like the regular spray only its a more concentrated formula for the realy hard cases. swimming in a public/privite swimming pool: its perfectly safe if there is clorine in the water as there should be. just a pool of water wont help you. it is allso safe to swim with some one who has poison has a poison ivy/ect. rash or seeping.
other products to come by way of an edit.
Note: all products and remedies effect everyone to different degrees. one that worked wonders for you may not do anything for someone else. and vice versa. feel free to add here
