Trying to get a group outing planned for the 17th, out towards Beaverville and the Willow Slough area, as of right now it looks like we'll be leaving the Kankakee area at around 3pm, that way it gives purple peach a chance to get off of work. the next question is where to we all want to meet up at? here in kankakee or out towards beaverville? As of right now our list contains of people going includes: blaird83 purple peach prince charming cowboy camper, (the rest of the clan coming with?) Cowgirl Camper Mrs.Cowboy. (Yup! Cowboy Clan are all Planning on it! ) lazerpuppynerdsamich and might include: lazerpuppynerdsamich (Moved Up, per blaird83's next post) obcjy

What about the Yarnos? I'm gonna try calling De again in just a few minutes to remind him of this Forum. I'm pretty sure I told him about this once before.... I'll Edit/Modify your first post for the updates we have so far, and if you have any updates yourself you can also do the Updates to the first post. As the Admin here, I can do that (and so can the Mods, but none participate here much) but as the Author of this topic, you can do so as well. Just click on 'Modify' button to edit in the updates you have to share. BTW, I'm glad to see that the Willow Slough area is being included in this Cache Run. That's an area that our clan has camped at a few years ago before we got the pup. (Pop Up) Camper. Man... I mean Years ago. I don't even think my daughter has ever been there yet! So it's been about 10+ years since the wife and I have been there. Seeing Geocaches in that area really has me wanting to go back to see the area again.

no clue, i sent them an e-mail still waiting on the response from the yarno's i know i want to tell 'em how nice it was to see some new caches... figured since that was the area we were headed i'd put 'em on the list that way we can pick where we wanna start at.

I left another V/M (Voice Mail) to YarnoDe. He texted back that he'll be in touch soon. My older phone can't keep up with Texting, so I'm hoping he will Call (ya know, it IS a Phone!...) sometime soon. Anyhow, hopefully he and YarnoMe can also make this trip, and sign on here at the Forums. I'd be Great to meet them in person as well. Bryan and I will Update the First Post as we receive any updates. IMHO, the more the merrier. And the Cowboy Clan is lookin' forward to this Cache Run!

I still have to Load the caches to the GPSr before this weekend. Argh! But.. thinking some about this, How about the town of St. Anne? There's that Corner gas station where Rt. 1 takes a turn to the west, and that blacktop road heading East will lead us toward the Willow Slough. Also, I know of some roads from that corner that will take us to Beaverville first. And from there we can head on out to the Slough. I'll have to get my stuff together and load the caches (of course!) but I can also take a look at the Driving/Routing for this run. But to get Everyone on the same page for a Starting Point, I think that corner station in St. Anne is a good place to get together and connect up. That way, we can all plan on a place to be and we'll all have an idea of how long it will take to get to that place and we'll be able to Plan accordingly. How's this sound as a plan? Yeah, that Date is coming soon, huh? And we're all still lookin' Very Forward to it!

Years ago, I once owned a small 36 Passenger School Bus. dang. Wish I still had that thing these days. Sure would make such a trip like this a little easier, huh? Full Caching Crew all in one vehicle. Oh well. Good thing we all should have Cell Phones, eh? We'll get it together. I have confidence.

OK, your cell is broke, but Leanne's still works, right? I'll call her # if we get separated on the road. But I really don't see that happening, ya know? GSAK. Yeah, that makes things a bit easier. Especially since I have the 2 Garmins to load up with caches. I'm debating as to whether I want to use the Magellan Triton for this run or not. Magellans are a PITA to load to cause ya have to use the Proprietary Software and do each cache one at a time. BUT! If I go that route, I Will have all the info in the GPSr itself. dang near Paperless Caching, huh? I may have to consider that option.
What's your Secondary GPS? I thought you guys had the same Garmins that we had. (Venture HC ?) Unless I spotted a regular Garmin eTrex in someone's hand the last time we cached together. I almost bought one myself, but it came with No Cable at all. If you guys have a regular eTrex, then I know why it's a PITA to load caches to it. Might be like my Triton, huh?

I have a few Personal Emails to send out, huh? The Yarnos and obcjy aren't here yet, and I really wish they were. It'd be Great to Meet them all face to face. Hey... What about the recent Newbies you've been talkin to as well? Are they coming along? [red]EDIT: Emails sent to the 3 Local cachers. Now we just have to wait and see if they come aboard, huh? I'm hoping they do. [/red]

I sent emails to obcjy, YarnoDe and YarnoMe. I got an email back from obcjy about the cache run, but not about the forums/site here. My follow up email to obcjy (encouraging him to join us here) has yet to be answered. And I've not gotten any replies back from the Yarnos. Obcjy said to let him know our starting point and said that he might join us for the cache run. But I've heard Nothing from him about coming aboard here at the forums.
YarnoDe Texted me again for a hint for a cache, but other than that I've been unable to reach him for the forums here or the Cache Run we're planning on. I guess we'll have to wait and see who'll join us.

Finally got the GPSr's loaded with the 16 caches in the area. Talk about waiting to the last minute, sheesh. I'll tell ya, I'd be late to my own Funeral if I was gonna have one.
With no cell's how are we gonna call obcjy? Once on the trail and roads, I guess we'll just have to stick close, huh?

Good Lord, is it ever a bit to late to still be up to make this post. But we had a that VERY hot place of an eventful run this afternoon/Tonight! ;D First off, my DD (Cowgirl Camper) and Price Charming didn't make it. Maybe that was for the better, cause we didn't finish up till after 9 PM! Also, I/we never heard back from obcjy or the Yarnos. On top of that, we had a scheduling 'error' that basically got us off to an Hour's Late of a start.
But all was a Great run after all... both the good and the bad. We ended up with 13 of the 16 we had in mind to get! For all of the details (by reading our Logs) check out each cache that Bryan put together in that Book mark list he posted up earlier in this topic. IMHO, there's some pretty Fun readings in them Found It Logs.

checking the e-mail this morning i found this:
kayak30 had this to say:
Sounds like you folks had a real Adventure visiting our hides at "Willow Slough Fish and Wildlife area". Peggy and I want to Thank you for the nice logs you wrote. Its a beautiful area to visit. The DNR are very friendly and helpful. We talked with them about putting on a Geo-Event in the camp ground sometime in September 2010. Would you be interested if we did a event there? We think it would be fun. We would reserve part of the camp ground for Camping, campfires, bean-bags games, and event Geo-caching. The DNR likes the idea. Anyway, Just a great big THANKS for visiting our hides. We have a few more hides planed for the area. Hope to meet you on the Geo-Trail sometime. "Happy Geo-Trails", Scott & Peggy
